Can Peyronies disease cause impotence? Jes-Extender.dk penis enlargement

Peyronies disease is a condition that occurs in one percent of the male population. It usually affects men between 45 and 60 years old, but it is also common in younger men as well. The first sign of Peyronies disease is a curvature of the penis that is especially visible during the erect state and it is often accompanied by pain. The bend can appear in the upper section or bottom of the penile shaft. Other signs of Peyronies disease include a lump on the shaft of the penis and length loss.

The causes of Peyronies disease are not yet clear, but researchers believe that factors such as genetics, diabetes, injury or trauma to the penis, Vitamin E deficiency or various infections are involved. Recent research seems to sustain the theory that Peyronies disease is caused by injury due to bending of the penis during a sexual act. The injury heals abnormally and it causes scars. However, this is only a theory and there is no solid evidence to back it up yet.

Most men are too embarrassed to go to a doctor when they discover the first signs and symptoms of Peyronies disease. There are many forms of Peyronies disease, from the mildest to the most severe. In severe cases, Peyronies disease can cause problems that vary the inability to sustain a rigid erection to impotence.

Peyronies disease can have severe consequences on the patient's sexual life. Many men that suffer from Peyronies disease are unable to sustain normal sexual relationships because of the pain associated with this condition or the fact that they cannot sustain rigid erection. Consequently, Peyronies disease is now considered an erectile dysfunction.

Most traditional treatments for Peyronies disease only hide the symptoms of this condition. That is why many people argue that Peyronies disease cannot be really cured. Most urologists recommend their patients to wait several months to see if their condition does not improve naturally. However, this approach can be harmful. Studies have shown that only a small amount of patients with Peyronies disease get better naturally. For most of them, this condition gets chronic and, in some cases, it can lead to impotence and other erectile dysfunctions.

Impotence associated with Peyronies disease can have physiological, psychological and mixed causes. The main physiological cause consists of the inability to trap blood in the penis. This leads to the impossibility to maintain an erection and to impotence. Another important physiological factor is pain. Pain associated with Peyronies disease can be so intense, that it prevents patients from enjoying sexual relations. The psychological causes are even more complex. Many men that suffer from Peyronies disease are so embarrassed about their condition, that they become afraid of intimacy and sex. Anxiety and stress can easily cause erectile dysfunctions and even impotence.

To avoid these kinds of complications, patients must consult their physician as soon as possible after they notice a hard lump on the penile shaft, an unusual curvature in the penis or pain during erections. Studies show that early detection and intervention are the best ways to make sure that Peyronies disease does not result in impotence. It is true that there is no established cure for Peyronies disease, but modern medicine offers many alternatives that can reduce symptoms and ensure a better quality of life for Peyronies disease patients.
