People underestimate the importance of the mental aspect of building muscle. You can try every workout or every muscle building program in the world and that won’t mean squat if you are mentally weak.

Your mentality will be the greatest single factor into how successfully you build muscle. Once you have a workout and nutrition routine in place here are a few tips to improve your mental toughness.

Determination:
First off you’ve got to want it really bad. You have to yearn for success. A lot of people would like to have a great body, but you have to go above and beyond that simple desire and become truly motivated. Determination is the ability to want something and then relentlessly pursue it in the face of challenge.

To become determined develop the mentality that you will fearlessly go after your desire for a strong muscular body. Do not back down when the journey becomes difficult.

Consistency:
On your path to building muscle there will be many days where you simply are low on motivation. Consistency is the ability to mentally overcome any lack of determination and stick to your overall plan. It cannot be stressed how important this trait is. People fail because they are unable to mentally convince themselves they have to stick to their plan day in and day out. Building muscle has to be a consistent process.

To become consistent repeatedly remind yourself of the importance of your overall plan. Assert to yourself that you’ll stick to it regardless of circumstance.

Dedication:
Mentally strong individuals understand the importance of sacrifice. To build muscle you will have to sacrifice your time, effort, and energy. To achieve success you will have to completely dedicate yourself to the program you have chosen.

To become dedicated convince yourself that you are eager to sacrifice rest and relaxation in order get the body of your dreams.

Mental toughness is the secret key to building muscle. It separates those who achieve and those who fail. If you couple determination, consistency and dedication with a sound workout and diet program then success will only be inevitable.
