Tamiflu for Flu Prevention and Treatment

Tamiflu flu medicine is the first choice of doctors. It is approved for prevention and treatment of influenza in adults as well as in children aged 1 year and older.

For treatment of the flu, Tamiflu capsules should be taken twice daily for five days under your doctor guidance. It can be taken with or without food as with many medicines, if your take Tamiflu with a light snack, milk, or a meal, the potential for an upset stomach may be reduced.

In case if your have any health history or any type of kidney disease, talk to your doctor before starting Tamiflu therapy. Tamiflu has been demonstrated to be safe and effective preventative therapy for up to 6 weeks.

Tamiflu contains the drug Oseltamivir, an inhibitor of neuraminidase that enables the influenza viruses to spread from infected cells to healthy cells. Therefore, Oseltamivir interrupts the action of neuraminidase and preventing the influenza infection.

Tamiflu effects can be easily controlled and the common side effects include nausea, vomiting, bronchitis, headache, dizziness, abdominal pain. Other effects could be coughing, sleeping disorders, sinusitis, skin rashes, or shortened breath.

1. Patient who is suffering from cardiac diseases, kidney diseases, liver diseases, or other chronic diseases needs to consult the physician before taking Tamiflu medication.

2. Pregnant women should avoid the use of tamiflu drugs without the proper consultation of a medical physician because it may be harmful for the coming child.

3. In case, any patient has faced allergic reactions with the use of this medicine, he should inform it to the physician.

4. Tamiflu dosage should never be exceeded because it could lead to adverse effects such as nausea or vomiting.

5. This medication should not be given to infants under the age of one year without prior consent of the physician.
